Situation: Customer
needs
a better latching system
A manufacturer of waste water tanks was having an
issue with a latch used in their tank systems.
The access door to the tank was used often and because of the caustic
environment, the customer needed a corrosion resistant latch.
The latch being used could not provide the anti-corrosion- property
they required so they were having the part coated with a plastic composite
material. Also, because the part
did not fit the grip range they needed in the application, each tank needed to
be machined in order for the latch to actuate properly.
CBM worked with Southco to identify a latch for this application.
CBM showed the customer various sizes of a 316 stainless steel slam
latch that would provide the corrosion resistance they needed.
The latch that was chosen had a grip range that fit the application
perfectly so the customer was able to eliminate a costly machining process.
And, since the latch was 316 stainless, there was no longer a need to
coat the part which resulted in further cost savings for the customer.
